HIRUKO is a Butoh movie work starring Kazuko Mogami. The Butoh in this work is a way to explore the deep part of the body and express Japanese view of body, nature, life and death using human body. The Butoh in this work creates a life-related ritual starting from a death of a small creature. “HIRUKO” is a name of one of the primordial deity, who was abandoned immediately after being born in Japanese mythology. We consider this deity symbolises how nature has been treated in the progress of developing the modern society. We have been losing the thought of how human is a part of the nature, and how much power and influence it has on us. Our purpose is to make those lost things visible and make the audience re-feel what used to be there.
