Located at the sea side, Espinho is a town with a population around 30000 inhabitants, 20km to the south of Porto.
The origin of Espinho goes back to the 18th century, when was started by a small group of fishermen. Since 1870, when the first trains crossed the town, there was a vast development of Espinho’s population as well as a crowd of summer visitors.
Nowadays it is a modern town, very popular to live, where the majority of the equipments can easily be reached on foot, which include the market, pools, schools, planetarium, music and language school, sports hall, hospital, museum, library, etc.
There is also a Casino with shows all year round and the oldest golf course in the Iberian Peninsula.
Espinho is a highly visited town namely during the weekends and on Mondays, where the weekly fair takes place. Its also a summer holiday resort with excellent fine sandy beaches.
